Aston Students' Union
Graphic design | Print design | Branding | Campaign
This campaign led by representitives of the SU aimed to highlight the issue of period poverty in the UK, so ‘Never Ovary-acting’ was born. The project included an awareness campaign to encourage sanitary donations, and ultimately aim to beat the current world record for the ‘longest line of sanitary towels.’ (Yes that exists!)
I wrote playful copy for each visual to emphasise the dire situation of period poverty in the UK. I wanted to add gravity to the how shocking these facts were. PERIOD. My posters were pushed through both social media and traditional print channels.
After the all day record attempt on the 12th March 2020, we received the news on the 30th March 2020 that we had officially achieved the Guinness World Record with a length of 1,888.9 metres. 20,320 sanitary pads were divived and donated equally between Aston University to help students suffering from period poverty and Birmingham & Solihull Women’s Aid. The campaign ‘Never Ovary-acting’ is now noted for its contribution on the Guinness World Record website and continues to be maintained by founder Jemma Hennighan with the excitement of seeing where it takes her next.
