For this eighties inspired animation, I attempted to bring the style back into the contemporary design world by using it to design a music video for a drum and bass track called ‘Slither’ by Bensley. The narrative involves a man stuck in a simulation, until his world begins to glitch and crumble, he soon realises that the world as he knew it is gone, and he is destined to repeat his life stuck in the same never ending loop. He lives day by day tested in the simulation he is trapped in. This task required art direction, storyboarding, illustrating, creating an animatic, animating and finally editing together. I used a variety of different softwares, including Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Imovie and the a Wacom Cintiq.
I worked in collaboration with a 3D artist, Jack Field, who simulated the scenery and modelled objects using Cinema 4D. He also experimented with glitch affects alongside me and we would work as a team to brainstorm themes, visuals and narratives.
